Q: What is your service area?
A: We can pickup from anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area, and deliver to almost anywhere in Canada.
Q: Is there a minimum charge?
A: We require a minimum labour charge of 2 hours for all local moves. This charge includes the moving crew, the truck, and any simple tools necessary to complete your move safely and efficiently. Following the minimum charge of 2 hours, you will be billed by the half-hour.
Q: Are there any hidden costs?
A: We do not charge anything on top of the hourly rate. No travel time, no gas charges, no extra stair fees, only the hourly labour rate. Check out our rates here.
Q: Do you bill on the hour or half hour?
A: Snappy is one of the only companies we know of that charges you on the half hour after our two hour minimum charge.
Q: When does the billable time start?
A: The hourly rate starts when the truck arrives at your residence. The time runs through the loading of the truck and the drive to your new home, and ends when the truck is empty and all required set-up jobs are completed.
Q: Can I get a written estimate?
A: We would love to give you a written estimate. Please call us to set up an appointment with one of our Relocation Specialists, they will be glad to write up an estimate, as well as answer any other questions you may have. For a rough idea, check out our local moving time estimates here.
Q: Can I get a guaranteed-cost estimate?
A: All residential moves are given a "Non-Binding Estimate," meaning that the final cost of the labour is based on actual hours worked. We do, however, offer "Binding Estimates" for all commercial and long distance moves. Our relocation specialists will be able to develop a flat-rate, guaranteed-cost estimate for such moves.
Q: Do I need to give you a deposit in order to book my move?
A: Most residential moving clients do not need to give us a deposit in order for us too confirm your appointment. We do however, require a 50% deposit on all flat-rate "Binding estimate" moves.
Q: Do you carry insurance?
A: Our base rates normally include insurance coverage of $.60/LB renumeration for damaged or lost articles. This excludes fragile items such as art, fish tanks, plants, etc. Extended coverage is available, please inquire when reserving.
Q: What can I do to help?
A: By being prepared for us on moving day you will save a lot of labour time. We can pack and move your boxes for you, but imagine the time saved if you brought down all your smaller boxes from the 3rd floor to the 1st, and disassembled all the large furniture. The more work you are willing to do the cheaper your move will be.
Q: Can I ride in the truck with the movers?
A: Although we would love to accommodate those without their own transportation, we are not allowed to offer people rides. This is against safety and insurance regulations. Please make sure you have your own transportation available for moving day.
Q: When is the best time to move?
A: If there is a choice, we suggest you do avoid the summer, beginning or end of the month to move. The heaviest demands are placed on trucks, equipment and personnel during these time periods. You should move when it’s most convenient for you, however do take into consideration that during the busy times, the earlier you book, the better your chances are to get your preferred date and time.
Q: How early should I call Snappy Move to guarantee myself a spot?
A: The earlier, the better. You should reserve at least 2 weeks in advance to guarantee availability of your preferred date. We can often accomodate late reservations, but why leave it untill the last minute? Plus, take advantage of our 10% discount offer when you book your move 2 weeks in advance!
Q: How and when should I pay?
A: Payment can be made by Interac, Visa, MasterCard, or cash.
The crew foreman will process your payment just before the truck is completely unloaded. We are a registered corporation so we do charge 5% GST on all transactions, and you will receive a receipt.
Q: Should I tip the movers?
A: Like all other service businesses, movers generally receive a gratuity upon completion. We are extremely appreciative of tips, and we promise that even the smallest gesture will not go overlooked. You should never, however, feel pressured into giving a tip.
